Introduction
Amongst the most important hydrogen storage methods that have been tried and tested over a long period of time is the physical method of storage based on compression or cooling, or a combination of both. The Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office (HFTO) is developing onboard automotive hydrogen storage systems that allow for a driving range of more than 300 miles while meeting cost, safety, and performance requirements. This is particularly true in the widespread introduction of hydrogen in car transportation. Indeed, one of the greatest technological barriers for such development is an efficient and safe storage. Every mode of transport presents its own set of requirements, and the right storage technology must be matched accordingly.
