Introduction
The National Investment Commission (NIC) held a high-level meeting recently to discuss investment opportunities in the production of green hydrogen and blue ammonia, aligning with Iraq's broader strategy to diversify its energy sources and shift towards clean and renewable. Iraq could explore investments in low-carbon hydrogen—whether blue or green—as part of global efforts to mitigate the environmental and economic risks associated with the risks of fossil fuel dependence. According to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA). For over 25 years, FCW has been the go-to source for news, information, and analysis. Earlier this month Hayan Abdel Ghani, Iraq’s oil minister, unveiled plans for a green hydrogen project for the South Refineries Company, including a 130MW solar energy plant.
