Introduction
To avoid the negative charge on the frame and thus the surface of the modules, the system has to be grounded on the most positive voltage in the system which is the positive pole of a single module or the whole string. The purpose of grounding is to create a safe path for electric current to flow in case of a fault, such as a short circuit or lightning strike. Grounding (also known as earthing) is the process of physically connecting the metallic and exposed parts of a device to the earth. It is a mandatory practice required by NEC and IEC codes to protect both equipment and personnel from damage and electric shock hazards.
