Introduction
A comprehensive cybersecurity investigation has revealed alarming vulnerabilities in the rapidly expanding solar energy infrastructure, with nearly 35,000 solar power devices found exposed to internet-based attacks across 42 vendors worldwide. Since our first report in November 2024, we have cataloged an additional 50 CVE vulnerabilities in solar-based Distributed Energy Resource (DER) systems. According to the disclosures, these vulnerabilities exposed approximately ~45% of the world-wide solar generation (>1 TW) to cyber exploitation. Cyble researchers scanned web for solar PV devices and found over 134,000 products from various vendors accessible.
