Introduction
Storage modulus is a quantitative measure of a material’s elastic, or spring-like, behavior, reflecting its ability to store energy when a force is applied. When a material is deformed, it stores some of the applied energy as elastic potential energy. The strain is the amount of deformation in the material, such as the change in length in an extensional experiment, expressed as a fraction of the beginning length. Two key parameters in this context are storage modulus (E’ or G’) and loss modulus (E” or G”). Ratio of the amplitude of the stress in phase with the strain (σ 0 cos δ) to the amplitude of the strain (γ 0) in the forced sinusoidal oscillation of a material.
