Introduction
This chapter first presents a brief history of the development of solar power plants in the world. Global solar PV manufacturing capacity has increasingly moved from Europe,Japan and the United States to Chinaover the last decade. China has invested over USD 50 billion in new PV supply capacity - ten times more than Europe - and created more than 300 000 manufacturing jobs across the solar PV. We started out concentrating the sun’s heat with glass and mirrors to light fires. Rongke Power, founded in Dalian, China in 2008, delivers vanadium flow battery technology for long-duration, utility-scale energy storage. With 3 GWh deployed globally, their safe systems boost grid resilience and support renewable integration.
