Introduction

Driven by solar heliostat technology, the proposed system uses microbial electrolysis cells (MEC) to produce hydrogen and pumped hydro and compressed air for storing surplus power. Researchers have designed a novel multigeneration energy system that provides five outputs, namely electricity, hydrogen, cooling, heating, and hot water. This system can be used in a subsurface land-based system or a submerged water-based system. Compressed air storage technology may become an efficient solution of storing energy generated by large solar plants.
