Introduction
To properly fuse a solar system, you must install DC-rated fuses sized at 156% of the array’s short-circuit current (Isc × 1. 56) in the positive conductors of parallel-connected strings, following NEC Article 690 requirements for overcurrent protection. Properly sizing fuses for photovoltaic (PV) systems is critical for the safe, reliable and long-term operation of this renewable power source. Eaton offers the industry’s most complete and reliable circuit protection for PV balance of system, from fuses, fuse holders and circuit breakers to safety switches and surge protection—allowing for comprehensive overcurrent and overvoltage protection anywhere in the PV system. Every photovoltaic (PV) power application must use fuses that are properly sized to its system.
