Introduction
We present a proof of concept demonstration of solar thermochemical energy storage on a multiple year time scale. “Solar Fuels” are the special case where the endothermic reaction releases oxygen that can be released into the atmosphere and later re-absorbed during combustion / oxidation. Thermochemical heat storage (THS) systems have major advantages over other thermal storage systems, notably high energy density and low heat loss when hermetically sealed.
