China s solar container is growing rapidly

The 277 GW of utility-scale solar capacity installed in China in 2024 alone is more than twice as much as the 121 GW of utility-scale solar capacity installed in the United States at the end of 2024. Planned solar capacity projects will likely lead to continued growth in China’s solar. According to analysis by Lauri Myllyvirta, a senior fellow at the Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI), China installed 93 gigawatts (GW) of solar capacity in May. To put that into context, the new additions were equivalent to an astonishing 230 million solar panels, at a rate of almost 100 solar. The global solar container power systems market is experiencing robust growth, driven by increasing demand for reliable and sustainable off-grid.
