Introduction
On June 7, 2025, a complete residential energy storage system comprising a 30 kWh GSL energy storage battery, a 15 kW Solis inverter, and solar photovoltaic panels was successfully installed in Madagascar, enabling customers to achieve self-sufficiency in daily electricity. The container battery utilizes 700-Ah lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cells in a liquid-cooled 1,500 to 2,000-volt configuration. Despite its massive 8-MWh capacity, the system can fit into half a standard shipping container, weighing approximately 55 tons (50 tonnes). Global South Utilities (GSU) has secured agreements with Madagascar to develop a 50 MW solar plant and a 25 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in the island nation. This article explores h tion, prefabricated inside a 4a?2 x 8a?2 palletized enclosure.
