Introduction
Here, we review recent progress and discuss challenges for the key steps of energy storage and utilization via ammonia (including hydrogen production, ammonia synthesis and ammonia utilization). The problem with it is that ammonia may combine with other gases to generate ammonium, which is especially harmful to the respiratory and cardiovascular systems. Thus, the most important condition for successfully harvesting hydrogen energy is overcoming the problems associated with hydrogen. It has significant potential in a net zero economy as it can has been increasingly recognised as a clean fuel. As the need for clean and sustainable energy sources grows rapidly, green hydrogen and ammonia have become promising sources of low-carbon energy and important key players in the transition to green energy. Special attention is given to hydrogen produced from renewable sources like solar and wind energy, emphasizing its benefits in reducing carbon emissions and contributing to a sustainable energy future.
