Introduction
The TuNur project consists of a 2,250MW solar CSP power plant in the Sahara desert and a 2 GW HVDC submarine cable from Tunisia to Italy. As the power plants become operational, they will generate circa 9,400GWh of 100% renewable and dispatchable power per annum. TuNur Italy is a 2,000MW transmission line purposefully built to deliver low-cost baseload solar power from TuNur’s hybrid solar facility in Southern Tunisia, to the heart of the European network. The remainder is imported from Algeria and Libya as well as produced by Tunisia's only independent power producer (IPP) Carthage Power Company(CPC),a 471-MW. In Tunisia, Nur Energie is developing the world’s first CSP solar export project between North Africa and Europe.
