Introduction
Let’s review a bread-and-butter approach to mitigating a residential structure fire involving solar panels and battery storage systems. This study focuses on structural fire fighting in buildings and structures involving solar power systems utilizing solar panels that generate thermal and/or electrical energy, with a particular foc handling these hazards through. The following Emergency Response Plan has been established to ensure Prospect and Janus Solar + Storage Projects can adequately and effectively respond to an emergency during the construction and/or operations phases of the project. That’s why the Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO) funded the Solar Training and Education for Professionals (STEP) program, which provides tools to more than 10,000 firefighters and fire code officials to manage solar equipment as they put out fires.
