Introduction
China's EAST (Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak) fusion reactor recently reached an important milestone. Fusion reactors need to keep hydrogen extremely hot and condensed, in the form of plasma, as it's found in the sun. A man takes a picture of a module being assembled at the huge international nuclear fusion project ITER in 2023. The clean energy project aims to generate 500 megawatts of power from 50 megawatts of electricity in the 2030s. Nuclear fusion in the sun occurs when hydrogen is compressed under such extreme heat and pressure that atoms break apart and recombine into heavier elements.
