Introduction
If solar panels spontaneously combust and sustain damage, immediate actions should be taken to ensure safety and mitigate losses. The actual definition is “the outbreak of fire without application of heat from an external source”. This combustion most often occurs when a flammable material (oil, stain, gasoline or other solvents) comes into contact with a combustible object (rag, towel, or drop cloth). Rags soaked with oil-based paints, stains, linseed oils, varnishes, polyurethane, or paint thinners have the potential to spontaneously combust.
